Hispanic religious leader’s videos encourage vaccinations

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — In order to increase COVID-19 vaccination among the Hispanic community, a Central Florida religious leader has begun to create videos to promote vaccination.

The videos are aimed at faith-based Hispanic residents concerned about the vaccine, Father Hoower Cajica Remolina said.

“The goal for us is very important to us, to help other people in this situation. But more important to us is we’re fighting fake news with faith news,” he said.  “It’s very important to share the truth.”

Henry Mendoza, who films the videos for Facebook and YouTube, said that’s why it was important to create and share the videos on all social media platforms.

“We’re going to the people in the same place, the same place where the fake news are,” Mendoza said.

The social media videos are a part of a project launched by Hispanic religious leaders called “Juntos Por La Fe,” or “Together in Faith.”
