The Digital Compañero Program

Digital literacy and internet access are

no longer optional during a pandemic…

they are a necessity.

Digital literacies and Internet connectivity have been called the ‘super social determinants of health’ because they address all other social determinants of health.

We Must Meet them where they are, not where we want them to be.

Virtual Townhalls

Community members are invited to a virtual sobremesa that runs weekly where physicians and health profession students provide information and answer questions.

Digital Outreach

Latinx with low digital literacy skills receive one-on-one virtual support from bilingual volunteer students to help them get online and sign up for vaccines, assistance programs, and other valuable local resources.

Digital Literacy

People lacking basic digital skills are disproportionately older, less educated, immigrants, or workers of color. Closing this gap requires providing digital training to socioeconomically strengthen Latinx communities.
