CCBNA Cares 2021: Care Package Drop Off
December 4 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm PST
California has the largest number of children and youth in foster care of any state in the nation with approximately 83,000 children in care. Each year over 4,000 of those youth reach age 18 and are emancipated from the system. They exit foster care largely unprepared for managing life on their own with 65% of these youth needing immediate housing. Approximately 60% of former foster youth earn incomes at or below $6,000 per year, which is below the federal poverty level and substantially below the California state poverty level.
In an effort to alleviate the financial burden faced by our previously fostered youth, CCBNA has collaborated with the Independent Living Program (ILP) to create care packages. Below is a list of suggested items. All donated items must be new. CCBNA members will be setup at Mckinley Park for donation drop off from11am to 5pm.
